“Cli-fi… it appears there’s nothing like catastrophe to bring the best out in authors…” —Publishers Weekly
“A stunning collection of short stories and poetry that address our most existential concerns.” —Mary Woodbury, dragonfly.eco
Through the Portal shows us that now, more than ever, our world urgently needs stories about hope! This collection by some 30 authors explores strange new terrains, interprets startling social constructs, takes us through morphing landscapes, offers dark and terrifying warnings, all while celebrating the positivity of human spirit as these authors shine a light that pierces the darkness we all-too-often see around us.

Orchid Lovell is a young woman who looks to escape violence, and finds solace in a lush orchid fen – which is more than it seems! 100 mini-chapters explore the tenuous and very contemporary reality of living in troubled times on troubled lands.
“The prose is sensuous and lyrical, saturated with earthy, evocative enchantment … In this powerful and intimate novel, a bold, loving heroine confronts racism, sexism, and classism.” – Foreword Reviews
